Burke's Peerage and Baronetage Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary, Vol 2

This database contains a listing of the peerage (those with the titles of duke, marquis, earl, viscount, or baron) of the British Empire, as constituted in 1865. It also describes the baronetage (those who are baronets, a class below Baron). Entries contain short accounts of the peer providing much biographical information, including lineage and the family coat of arms. Unfortunately this database presently only contains the second volume of Burke's two-volume series and therefore only contains those individuals with surnames beginning L-Z. Other subjects addressed in this work include the following:

  • Spiritual Lords
  • Prelates of Ireland
  • Foreign Titles of Nobility Conferred on British Subjects
  • Peerages Recently Extinct, Dormant, or in Abeyance
  • Peerages That Have Been Claimed
  • Surnames of the Peers and Peeresses
  • Daughters to Peers Married to Commoners
  • Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council
  • Honourable Orders
  • Mottoes
