St Bartholomew's priory was founded during the reign of Henry I as a house for Benedictine monks. It was located outside of Sudbury in Suffolk and was a cell of Westminster Abbey. This database contains over 130 charters, dating primarily from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, of the priory. Types of documents found in this database include grants and land transactions, deeds, and inventories. These documents contain valuable information pertaining to the priory, including religious, social, governmental, and economic matters that would greatly interest many historians.
